The Most Powerful Medicine
I want to add a little to the concept of Wellbeing so that we can deepen into it as a healing practice. You might take another look at last week’s poem in Lasting Health Report #1. It opens our conversation about the meaning of wellbeing and how it underpins Lasting Health.
I have come to believe, through all my experiences with illness and health, that embracing wellbeing is truly the most powerful medicine. It can guide us in all that we do to achieve a state of optimum wellness.
Everything that we are influenced by in the realms of health and illness in our culture is secondary to wellbeing—all the labels, diagnosis, symptoms, traumas, stories, modalities, medicines, every aspect of the healing arts and sciences. And everything that we believe about body, mind and spirit—wellbeing is beyond it all.
Wellbeing is a primal desire. We have every right to claim it, to declare it.
By doing so, we take our identity and all of our life experiences and repurpose them on behalf of our wellbeing. The state of wellbeing is the whole of who we are, our true Self, the gift that is given us through our Divine worthiness.
The challenge is to receive it and become it.
Yes, indeed! I am finding there are many little and big ways I need to refocus my thoughts and Wellbeing is certainly a big priority. We seem so trained to describe and categorize what is wrong, when our "parched earth" may just need watering!
