The Centre for Living Medicine

The Centre for Living Medicine is a small—but mighty—healing centre in a tranquil neighbourhood of Vancouver, Canada. It’s also our home. For eighteen years we’ve carefully crafted a sacred space to support our journeys through trauma and illness to lasting health. We were both in deep distress when we arrived here and this hundred year old house mirrored our malaise—so we set about to restore it to vibrant health. As the house and gardens healed we healed.

It’s a remarkable win-win story of collaboration with the owners of this property who we quickly came to trust and love. They engaged with us in a unique partnership that only later we realized was a perfect example of “living in the gift economy.” Together, we fostered a relationship rooted more in generosity and mutual care than one based on transaction.

We became stewards of this urban sanctuary. Envisioned as much more than a home, we designed a welcoming and versatile space to share with others and to work in service of the wellbeing of all who visit. From coaching and somatic therapies, to circle and group work, personal retreats and medicine journeys, we express our commitment to creating community and bringing body, mind and spirit into unity.

We continue to be guided by the steadfast question: what wants to emerge. We can feel the call for evolution at play, a need for growth and broader collaboration. Our dream, which seems to be echoed by so many, is to create a nature-based sister centre that can nourish and harness our collective genius, a place where the higher frequencies of a new paradigm can unfold.
